Made from a single small area of Syrah, off the Redstone vineyard in the Bridge Pa Triangle, this block was intensively managed by hand to ensure very low crop levels and well exposed fruit, delivering ripe, intensely flavoured grapes. Along with a gentle, traditional winemaking approach, this has produced a wine of concentration and richness with an elegant, velvety tannin structure whilst still retaining the fresh, lifted aromatics Hawke’s Bay Syrah is so well known for.
On the palate, the wine manages both luxuriousness and elegance with a plushness of texture that is supported by silky tannins, drawing the wine out across the back palate and lending great length to the finish. Rich, ripe and fragrant it expresses layers of dark berry and cherry fruit supported by lifted violet perfume, warm exotic spice and notes of dusty cacao, vanilla, smoky charcuterie and a subtle underlying earthiness.
