In 1898, the visionary John Duff brought the BenRiach Distillery into existence in Speyside. Distinguished as one of the rare distilleries to possess its own on-site floor malting, it sources its pristine water from the Burnside Springs.
This exceptional single malt whisky is the result of a meticulous process that involves utilizing peated spirit and undergoing a maturation period of no less than thirty years in a combination of sherry casks, bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks, and port casks from the Douro Valley. Over this extended maturation, the gentle Speyside smoke characteristic of BenRiach gradually softens and harmoniously blends with the fruity, malty, and oaky elements. After three decades, this intricate layering evolves into a sublime essence of honeyed smoke, further enriched through the multi-faceted maturation process in various cask types.
The whisky originating from each unique cask variety, imbued with its distinct flavour profile, is masterfully married together to craft an exquisitely balanced single malt. This superbly layered spirit unfolds with notes of dark fruits, opulent walnut, and velvety oak spice, culminating in a long, intricate finish suffused with smoky honey. The result is a perfectly balanced masterpiece.
