Aged Sangiovese from the southern hills of Montalcino, Italy. The Castello Banfi ‘Belnero’ has been made to last and we think is drinking perfectly now. Its labelled as a Toscana IGT (rather than well- known Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano or Chianti) meaning other grapes can be added if required. In this case a hint of both Cab Sauv and Merlot were used to top up the Sangiovese bringing a floral, berry and rich spice aroma to the blend. It’ll lend itself well to the usual suspects like roast pork belly, rich tomato-based stews or with your favourite pate on your weekend charcuterie board.
Smooth and silky from start to finish. Gentle aromas of vanilla and coffee with a hint of jam leads to a rounded body with a a powerful structure and fine tannins.
